Lynne and Andy are one of those perfect couples, both for each other and for me as a photographer. Not only did they look great and treat me like a guest at their wedding, they understood how to pose when I wanted to capture certain shots and encouraged all their guests to really get behind the photography. In preparation, I’d had an engagement shoot with the couple on the beach. They loved their images and were confident that I would produce what they wanted. A pre wedding shoot is great for getting to know your photographer and lets you see various image styles before your big day.
I started the day at the family home with the boys. Andy is a keen motorcyclist and we took the opportunity to wheel out his favourite toy and get some shots with the bike. As a couple they were not concerned with a ‘traditional’ album. They wanted me to capture them, and all the details that set their day apart from the others. After a little time at the house, I left Andy to catch up with Lynne and the girls at Thornton Hall Hotel. I’ve been to many weddings here but this was the first ceremony I had seen in the grounds outside. The weather was bright and warm and as guests mingled outside with wine and nibbles we watched from above whilst Lynne’s team worked around her. As the owner of a popular hair salon she received the star treatment and looked stunning as we descended to the ceremony.
The service was kept light by the reservoir dogs moment as the groomsmen walked out in matching sunglasses to fetch the bridesmaids, with accompanying music. After the ceremony, group and key shots took place around the grounds. Thornton Hall has some lovely backdrops and we took our time to try some different things before heading inside for the rest of the evening.
It’s always a pleasure to shoot at this venue, but this one has been a particular favourite. I’m sure I’ll keep in touch with Lynne and Andy for years to come and I wish them both a very happy married life.
